Dana Leonard

Dana is from Cooperstown, NY where she continues to grow roots as a co-owner of Origins Cafe. Origins is a farm-to-table restaurant focused on cultivating community and supporting sustainable agriculture. When the greenhouse cafe closes during the winter months, Dana travels in pursuit of exploring culture, farming, plant medicine and movement. Last winter she travelled to southern India to study Ashtanga yoga. The high energy nature of the Ashtanga practice is fitting for Dana, as she gravitated to yoga after years of college basketball and marathon running. In the spirit of playfulness and creativity, she also practices hoop dance, and has offered hula hooping classes at the Ahimsa Yoga & Music festival for the last four years.

In India, Dana was trained in Ashtanga Yoga, a modern day form of classical Indian yoga that synchronizes breath and movement to produce an internal heat designed to purify the body. Ashtanga Yoga is great for people who like a fast-paced and structured practice. Although it's challenging, anyone can practice this style of yoga and modifications are given to meet the practitioner where they are.

Trainings and Certifications:

RYT-200 Rama School of Yoga, Varkala, India
